Many products carrying recognized brand names are from Chinese manufacturers - and the margins being made on many products are simply exorbitant
Hymoto are offering high quality realistically priced solar water collectors
But we have taken the decision not to supply other parts of the system

As of this moment Chinese water tanks, solar controllers and expansion vessels are not, in our opinion, of the quality we would wish to supply
And we say ..."as of this moment" ...because Chinese companies develop and improve products very quickly ...Hymoto are continually reviewing the situation
Hymoto have therefore taken the decision only to supply the solar collectors - allowing you to purchase the heart of the system ....at an extremely competitive price
Solar Water Made Simple
The truth is that Solar Water Heating is really very simple - many suppliers make it seem much more complicated than it really is - probably as a way of justifying very high prices
It is simply a closed loop heating system with a Solar Collector instead of a conventional boiler
And the principle is exactly the same as a solid fuel boiler – the system must incorporate an expansion vessel and pressure release valve
The fact is that many companies are making excessive profits from Solar Water

To Explain About Solar Water Heating
A) Types of Solar Collectors
There are 2 main types of solar collectors
The fact is that in a low radiation country the vacuum evacuated tube is much more effective – equivalent size – than a flat plate collector
You may hear claims that there is only a small % difference – this is simply not true
If you compare the best vacuum tube panel with the best flat plate collector then the vacuum tube panel will be approximately twice as effective
Not all Evacuated Tubes Are The Same
The Vacuum evacuated tubes work mostly on the principle of a heat pipe contained within a vacuum tube
There are 3 differences between different vacuum tubes
1) The Specification Of The Coating
Different coatings make a big difference to the solar radiation absorption – the best coatings cost a lot more
2)The Strength of Vacuum in the Tube
There is a big difference in the strength of the vacuum between different tubes and like a thermos flask – the better the vacuum the better the vacuumnevacuated tube works
3) The manufacture of the heat pipe
The heat pipe is the very heart of the system – some work much better than others …and cost much more to manufacture
There are 2 diameters of vacuum evacuated tubes – the 58mm diameter perform best in the UK climate – they are far better than 42mm tubes .The improved performance of 58mm tubes more than justifies the cost premium over 42 mm tubes
Differences between Flat Plate collectors
There are also many differences between flat plate collectors primarily
The specification of the coating (The best coating is manufactured in Germany and is very expensive)
Whether the collector fin is aluminium or copper
The quality of construction of the frame
The price of a flat plate collector is NOT necessary an indication of quality !!!
Flat plate collectors are useful when there are planning considerations – they can be set into the roof rather than on top – like a recessed roof window
Designing A System
The average UK property will require 2 Vacuum evacuated tubes which are connected in series
For larger properties more collectors can be connected in series
It is not necessary to mount the collector on the roof - they can just as well be mounted on the ground in a South facing position
The way a solar water heating system works is that a temperature sensor measures the water coming out of the solar collector and the water in the tank
If the water in the tank is cooler than the water coming out of the solar collector the pump runs
If the tank is hotter the pump is stopped – it is that simple and this function is performed by the solar controller
Split systems can be designed for East / West facing roofs
When choosing a tank it is important that the tank is fitted with a proper solar coil – a coil with a surface area of not less than 1.6m2. A solar coil has a much larger surface area than a conventional coil. This is because sometimes the difference between the liquid circulating in the closed loop is sometimes only slightly hotter than the tank water – a larger coil ensure the transfer of heat.
Tanks can be fitted with any number of coils – typically one coil for a conventional boiler and a second solar coil
Swimming Pools
For swimming pools the vacuum tubes should be installed in a system using a heat exchanger
For larger pools this should be a bank of solar panels connected both in series and in parallel

Commercial Applications
Solar water heating is appropriate for any industry with high volume hot water usage – food processing, hotels, the dairy industry
Systems should be specifically designed according to the application – Hymoto have a solar engineer with many years of experience of designing and specifying systems
