Battery Systems

There are 2 types of batteries for use with a wind turbine system

12 volt Deep Cycle

A 12 volt deep cycle battery bank can be created by connecting batteries in series - 20 batteries to create a 240 volt system. The capacity of the battery bank can be increased by connecting batteries in parallel as well as in series.

The typical life of a deep cycle battery bank will be between 3 and 5 years depending on the frequency and depth of discharge.

2 v Dry Cell

These are the best battery solution as they are designed for rapid charge / discharge and frequent cycles. These batteries are also connected in series to create a 240 volt battery bank - and in parallel to create a larger capacity battery bank.

Dry cell batteries are approximately twice the price of deep cycle batteries but should offer a battery life of approximately 10 years.
